After the approval by the Board of Directors of Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa (Bapr) of the merger by incorporation project of Banca Popolare Sant’Angelo di Licata (Bpsa), which took place on 31 May, the supervisory and last Friday (28 June) the documents necessary for the holding of the shareholders’ meetings of Bapr and Bpsa, called to decide on the proposed merger by incorporation, were deposited at the registered office of Bapr.

The operation is characterized by respect for the path followed by Bapr in 135 years of history, offering the opportunity to broaden the operational horizon of the new entity, extending the “Ragusa model” to the whole of Sicily. Upon completion of the merger by incorporation of BPSA and as a natural evolution of the path undertaken, Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa will take on the new name of Baps: Banca Agricola Popolare di Sicilia.

“The merger by incorporation of Banca Popolare Sant’Angelo into Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa – commented Arturo Schininà, president of the Board of Directors – combines history and innovation: the bank will maintain the corporate form of a popular institution, will consolidate the connection with stakeholders and will provide ever greater opportunities for the development of the reference territories. In this direction, the new territorial extension, the renewed market positioning and the relational evolution will also develop in a re-branding of the bank, which will take on the new name Agricultural People’s Bank of Sicily (Baps), an increasingly modern bank at the service of all Sicilians”.
