On the eve of the vote for the ballota final blow inflames the dispute and breaks into the day of electoral silence. With two different notes, one joint from the Brothers of Italy and the League and the other from the entire center-right of Lecce, the governor’s behavior is stigmatized Michele Emiliano for having summoned hospital chiefs to a city hotel this morning. For the centre-right, which in a subsequent note escalates the issue by asking for the prefect’s intervention, this is a very serious matter because the governor is “campaigning by taking advantage of his institutional role”.
A first response came from the regional secretariat of the Democratic Party, which challenged the centre-right’s methods of public intervention: «The League and FdI of Lecce have violated the electoral silence. We have instructed our lawyers to denounce the signatories of the statement. We will be consequential with all those who continue to violate the laws.”
The meeting, confidential and behind closed doors, took place – as mentioned – in a room of a city hotel. Interviewed by Telerama before the start of the meeting, the governor said: «I am here to lend a hand to Carlo Salvemini. I couldn’t arrive on Friday evening because I was in San Severo for another important ballot. We divided the work with Antonio Decaro (who the evening before closed the rally for Salvemini in Piazza Sant’Oronzo, ed.)”.
According to article 9 of law 212/56, “on the day preceding and on those established for the elections, rallies and direct or indirect electoral propaganda meetings in public places or places open to the public are prohibited (…)”.
