The decisive meeting for the definition of the new council of the Municipality of Forlì, the team that will have to support the mayor Gian Luca Zattini, ended in mid-afternoon. The discussion continued throughout the week and involved Zattini himself and the four political groups that make up his majority in the city council: Fratelli d’Italia, the civic list ‘La Civica – Forlì Cambia’, the Lega and Forza Italy. If some names were already given as “safe” councilors from the beginning of the negotiations, others emerged during the discussion.
It was particularly laborious to compile the list of councilors, both due to a tug-of-war, especially from the League which wanted to place two councilors on the council, but also for the respect of gender equality, since the mayor found himself with an overabundance of male names to evaluate and fewer female ones. In fact, the law requires that there be at least 4 women members of the council out of the 9 available positions.
The team was thus defined. Alongside Gian Luca Zattini, Vittorio Cicognani will sit on the council, a person he trusts the most and who will most likely continue to deal with the budget. Also directly appointed by the mayor will be Angelica Sansavini, for 42 years at the top of Domus Coop and also with roles within the Cassa dei Risparmi Foundation (probably, given the position she comes from, she will be responsible for social services). The main majority party, Fratelli d’Italia will appoint its municipal coordinator and preference record holder Vincenzo Bongiorno as deputy mayor; with him Luca Bartolini, historic long-term political exponent and responsible for the party district, and Emanuela Bassi, outgoing group leader.
The civic list will be represented by Paola Casara, outgoing councilor and coordinator of the list, and by Kevin Bravi, a young entrepreneur who obtained the highest number of preferences after Casara. The issue of the League concluded with the entry into the council of Andrea Cintorino, also an outgoing councillor. While Forza Italia reconfirms the outgoing councilor Giuseppe Petetta. The outgoing deputy mayor Daniele Mezzacapo, who did not find a place in the council at the end of the majority negotiations, could be designated as president of the municipal council. The delegations will be defined at the beginning of the week.
“I am satisfied with the summary picture that emerged from the work carried out together with the parties and civic forces that support the majority” states Mayor Zattini. “This new Council – he continues – is rich in personal skills, significant political and technical experiences, fruitful contacts with civil society, with the world of work and entrepreneurship, with the territories”. The administrative and political structure at the start of this second mandate will be completed with the installation of the new municipal council scheduled for next July 2nd and during which the President and the Vice President will be elected, which usually belongs to the opposition, as well as the composition of the commissions.
