Let’s get into the economic specificity of ‘Comedy Film Festival‘that will cost 65 thousand euros of public money taken from the municipal coffers, as the deputy mayor Vito Andrea Mariggiò recently confirmed. Funds often generous with contributions in favor of some city associations to the detriment of othersand totally wide open for the organizers of the Comedy Film Festival.
Following legitimate access to documents carried out by our city councillors Gregorio Perrucci and Pasquale Pesareit is clear that the compensation for 5 of the most famous actors called to Manduria amounts to approximately 20 thousand euros.
Certainly a small amount, compared to the total amount of 172 thousand euros. A figure which, however, does not describe for what performance these artists will be paid. Presence? ‘Solo’ show? Blessings in favor of the Messapian flocks? It remains a mystery. The only certain thing is that in Manduria 60 thousand euros a day will be atomized, for three days.
Is Mayor Pecoraro aware of this? Because there are two things here: either he didn’t realize that committing 60 thousand euros a day to the Comedy Festival, in these times, is unacceptable; or he realized it, but he surrendered to the ‘bubbles’ of his diligent disciples, capable of making the Administration of Manduria swallow surprising estimates.
And to think that there is a comparison: the same cultural event, held in Ferrara from 16 to 23 September 2023, cost the organisers, all inclusive, around 90 thousand euros. But they were in Ferrara eight days of festival, 40 events, 32 films in competition, 21 previews and a parterre of internationally renowned artists they illuminated the Ferrara Film Festival.
The Ferrara event, among other things, was enriched by the awarding of the Golden Dragon for Lifetime Achievement awarded to Giancarlo Giannini.
The extraordinary cultural offer of Ferrara has been realized with approximately half of the investment allocated to the Ferrara Film Festival Association by the Municipality of Manduria.
We wonder if these were the strategic objectives of the Pecoraro Administration; whether this unacceptable waste will enhance and incentivize the promotion of Manduria and its territory; if you really think that this event can attract visitors and generate positive impacts for the local economy.
The enormous disparity between the resources used for the Ferrara Festival and those squandered by the Municipality of Manduria in 3 days cannot fail to generate legitimate doubts.
We hope that the supervisory bodies are able to reassure us and the entire Mandurian community.
