Club Panathlon celebrating the national and regional nominations

The medieval village of Casertavecchia hosted the summer convivial of the Caserta Terra di Lavoro Panathlon Club, chaired by Colonel Giuliano Petrungaro.

During the evening, Francesco Schillirò, recently elected vice president of the Italian District, and Paolo Santulli, recently elected Governor of Area 11 of Campania of Panathlon International and former president of the association of the capital of Terra di Lavoro, and the five new members: Franco Porfido, Francesco D’Alonzo, Giuseppe Carusone, Maria Erminia Bottiglieri and Annamaria Sadotto.

Also speaking at the evening were the president of the “Napoli” Panathlon Club Alfonso Pepe, secretary of Area 11 Campania, the president of the “Campi Flegrei” Panathlon Club Giosuè Vitagliano, the president of the “Neapolis” Club Paolo Cupo, the CONI provincial delegate of Caserta Michele De Simone, the past president of Panathlon Giuseppe Bonacci, the president of the Stars of Sports Merit Association Nicola Scaringi.

In his initial speech, President Petrungaro wanted first of all to underline that for the first time during a convivial event, important appointments at the national and regional level of the club are celebrated, those of the vice president Schillirò, the Governor of Campania Santulli and Alfonso Pepe in the College di Garanzia: “A great success for our area, our club, a sign of professionalism and trust”. He then recalled the activities carried out and that the Caserta club will celebrate the seventieth anniversary of its foundation this year, he then thanked his collaborators and highlighted the success of the Caserta club which materialized with the appointment of Santulli as Governor of Area 11 Campania and as press officer of Lucio Bernardo’s Area 11 Campania. Finally he presented his member Francesco Di Tella with the honor conferred by Panathlon International for ten years of membership.

The Governor of Campania Paolo Santulli underlined how group play is fundamental to achieving goals: “We are a team, the Caserta model has been exported”. Then Santulli presented, on behalf of the president of Panathlon International Pierre Zappelli, the ‘Domenico Chiesa Award’ to the vice president of the Italian District Francesco Schillirò “for his commitment and dedication to the panathletic principles, in ensuring his active presence at the initiatives of the club contributing to the district and international growth of the Area”. The winner was also awarded the gold badge of Panathlon International.

Moved in his speech, vice president Schillirò thanked and underlined: “United we win, we must remain united”.

As per tradition in all convivial events, the Caserta club honored the ladies with an elegant and significant gift to commemorate the evening.

This was followed by the presentation of new members who have joined the Caserta Club and then, by the pool, the tasting of the dinner prepared by the chef of the Torre dei Falchi restaurant.
