A theft of electrical cables was committed in the municipal well systems of Marsala, in the Sinubio district. Due to this the water supply was reduced by 50%, with consequent inconvenience for the city and the suburbs.

In the meantime, explains a note from the Municipality, “technicians and workers have been at work for several hours and, at the same time, we are proceeding to find the necessary material to restore electricity to the systems”. Having already reported the theft, the municipal administration invites the people of Marsala “to use water reserves economically, avoiding consuming water for uses other than drinking and hygiene”. A similar event happened at the beginning of last October. In that case, copper cable thieves vandalized the structure of the municipal aqueduct in the San Silvestro district, causing it to go haywire, with the consequence of leaving the northern area of the city dry.

“It is an unspeakable gesture that penalizes the community” Mayor Massimo Grillo and councilor Guglielmo Ivan Gerardi then commented. The station damaged in October conveys drinking water throughout the northern area (the highest one) of the outskirts of Marsala and in particular the areas of via Salemi, via Trapani and the coastal road that leads to Birgi.
