Bergamo: Elcograf crisis, almost all the workers left at home after the closure of Treviglio have been relocated

A discussion between Elcograf management and the unions was held on Wednesday 19 June to get updates on what is happening in the company after the January closure of the Treviglio plant, where 95 people worked.

At the headquarters in Via Zanica in Bergamo, an assessment was made to understand what will happen to the 311 workers remaining in the capital and Madone.

Almost all workers relocated

«First of all – they explained Tobia Perini of CGIL, Luca Legramanti of Cisl e Bruno Locatelli of Uil – the company informed us that the Treviglio workers have largely been relocated to the three sites of Madone, Bergamo and Pozzo d’Adda (in the Milan area), and that therefore it will not be necessary to open a collective mobility procedure. For the few remaining employees, voluntary exits will be provided, with economic incentives.”

Agreement for extraordinary redundancy fund

Meanwhile, at the end of July, the extraordinary layoff period currently underway in the company will end and an agreement was therefore signed on Wednesday to request a further period of extraordinary amortization until the end of December this year. «We are awaiting the summons to the Ministry of Labor to understand if we will be granted these additional months – the trade unionists clarified -. Elcograf’s situation undoubtedly remains critical, with very low workloads, in a sector that is constantly contracting and with little prospect of recovery. In the next few days we will meet the workers in the assembly.”

Already last December, in fact, the concern expressed by the unions was not only for those who would be left without a job from January. Six months later, the fears for the two sites in Madone and Bergamo remain confirmed.
