Just a few more hours and it will be Giostra del Saracino again with the June edition of San Donato which will see the Golden Lance dedicated to Giorgio Vasari up for grabs on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death.
An edition that promises to be hard-fought and balanced with all four pairs of jousters presenting themselves in the best conditions.
The tests of the last few days have in fact highlighted a high level of preparation which places all four districts with the same victory percentages.
With the marking of the horses this morning, we also have the names of the official pairs who, under the orders of the Master of the Field Carlo Umberto Salvicchi, will run the 145th edition of the contemporary era.
For the yellow-crimson district of Porta del Foro, which will open the challenge, they will be there Davide Parsi on Biancaneve Doc Bar Italian saddle, 12 year old gray female And Francesco Rossi known as “Tallurino” on Penelope 15 year old chestnut female Haflinger who will be the only debuting mare of this edition.
The red-green district of Porta Crucifera lines up a new pairing made up of Lorenzo Vanneschi on Pinocchio Haflinger, 15 year old chestnut gelding and Gabriele Innocenti on Grace Colonner (Chicca) Sella Italiana, 17 year old chestnut female who, after a few years, returns to run Giostra after having competed in some editions with the Quartiere di Porta del Foro, also putting his signature on the latest success in June 2019.
Third district to compete for the gialloblù of Porta Santo Spirito with the “terrible boys” Elia Cicerchia on Olympia Haflinger, 16 year old chestnut female and Gianmaria Scortecci on Doc Sella, 13 year old Italian piebald gelding
Last is the green and white district of Porta Sant’Andrea (which yesterday won the General Test with Leonardo Tavanti and Matteo Bruni with a total of 9 points) which relies on Tommaso Marmorini known as “Benzina” on Conte Darko di Gazzara Sella Italiana, 11 year old Tobiano bay gelding and Saverio Montini on Syria Sella Italiana, 10 year old chestnut female.
