COSENZA – The evocative setting of the terrace of Trinità dei Monti, near the convent of San Francesco di Paola in Rome, hosted the third edition of the “Sapori di Cosenza” event, organized by Chamber of Commerce. The evening turned the spotlight on the cultural and agri-food excellences of the province of Cosenza, in the presence of illustrious authorities from the business, ecclesiastical, political and cultural world. The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Klaus Algieri, opened the event with a passionate speech to relaunch the story of the truest Calabria: “This evening we want to talk to you about a place where beauty truly flows everywhere and in countless forms: from landscapes to gastronomy, through history, culture and thousand-year-old traditions.”

“We are fortunate – continues Algieri – to be able to experience unique experiences and shows, such as waking up at dawn on the Ionian Sea and admiring the sunset over the Tyrrhenian Sea by moving a few kilometers on the same day, or immersing ourselves in the past, from the caves of Papasidero to the vestiges of the Magna Grecia, enjoy the benefits of one of the most varied expressions of the Mediterranean Diet, which the whole world envies us, or give fullness to spirituality in the many places of faith which, like the Sanctuary of San Francesco di Paola, are oases of religiosity beyond what treasures of immense culture. In the last edition of the “Flavours of Cosenza” I reminded those present that some time ago, walking with my daughter Matilde through the Sila woods and seeing her ecstatic, I recommended her not to talk about it too much with friends to preserve these unique places. Well, seeing so much interest in our land today I can say, and I am happy, that in the end the secret was not kept.”

Satisfaction and a future vision that places the South at the center of the country’s growth path in the words of Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who once again wanted to be present at the initiative organized by the Chamber: “I tell you as a man from the north: the south has an absolute centrality with respect to a new path for the future. Therefore, applause to those who are committed to presenting its value, potential and peculiarities in an effective way, as I have been able to appreciate several times in the initiatives promoted by the Cosenza Chamber of Commerce.”

The event continued with profound reflections on the figure of San Francesco di Paola, the Calabrian saint among the most venerated in the world, through the work “Francesco De Paula” by Maestro Francesco Perri, Director of the “S. Giacomantonio” of Cosenza. An evocative musical epic to learn the message of the Saint of Calabria whose historical and religious figure was also highlighted by the interventions of Father Gregorio Colatorti, General Corrector of the Order of Minims, and Father Francesco Trebisonda, Provincial Corrector of the Order of Minims. In conclusion, His Eminence Reverend Cardinal Willem Jacobus Eijk spoke and praised the Chamber of Commerce for the social initiatives carried out over time. In the words of those present, the importance of religious tourism as a tool for cultural and economic growth was also understood, uniting faith and territory in a journey of discovery and rebirth. The event concluded with a journey of food and wine tasting of the “Flavours of Cosenza”, which highlighted the Dop/Igp excellences of the region.

The presence of illustrious personalities – including the Vice President of the Constitutional Court Giulio Prosperetti, the Judge of the Constitutional Court Angelo Buscema, the President of the Court of Auditors Guido Carlino, the Attorney General of the Court of Auditors Pio Silvestri, the Deputy Secretary General Quirinale Alfredo Guarra, the State General Accountant Biagio Mazzotta, the President Aran Antonio Naddeo, the President of the Adriano Olivetti Foundation Cinthia Bianconi and many other representatives of the trade associations and the State – confirmed the importance of a prestigious event, which offered those present a unique opportunity to discover and appreciate the true riches of Calabria, its authentic beauty and tradition.
