The Court of Review of Naples has postponed the discussion on the Eurohocolate trial until October 4th.

After the appeal presented by the Avellino Prosecutor’s Office against the investigating judge’s order which had excluded the hypothesis of disturbed freedom of the auctions against the former mayor Gianluca Festa in relation to the organization of the chocolate exhibition held in Avellino last February.

In the same hearing, the judges of the Review will also evaluate the request of the Avellino Prosecutor’s Office to charge the former municipal manager Filomena Smiraglia with the crime of revealing official secrecy regarding the competitions for traffic policeman announced by the Municipality of Avellino.

However, the date of the hearing before the Sixth Criminal Section of the Court of Cassation still remains to be set, where the appeal presented by the former mayor’s defense against the precautionary custody order which has placed him under house arrest since April 18th will be discussed. .

The accusations against Festa

The former mayor Gianluca Festa is accused of embezzlement, corruption and bid rigging in the context of the “Dolce Vita” investigation relating to the organization of Eurochocolate 2024. According to the accusation, Festa favored some companies in exchange for bribes and would have committed irregularities in the awarding of contracts for the event.
