In Sassari beaches more accessible to people with disabilities

For the whole summer people with disabilities will be able to access the beaches of the Sassari coast easily and safely.

The Municipality has the assistance service has been activated on the five beaches in the area of ​​Sassari, Platamona, Fiume Santo, Porto Ferro, Argentiera and Porto Palmasto allow people with mobility difficulties to take advantage of an equipped area and the facilities available for assisted bathing.

The service, managed by the social cooperative Vosma, is active until September 30th every day from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 6pm, with the exception of Platamona beach where the service is provided continuously from 9am to 6pm. The equipped area allows bathers to move through large wooden walkways, functional for the transit of prams, strollers and pedestrians and connected to the arrival and parking areas for people with disabilities.

They are also present dedicated pitches with umbrellas, courtesy chair and support balustrade16 stations in Platamona, three in Porto Ferro, two in Fiume Santo, Argentiera and Porto Palmas.

Professional assistance will be guaranteed by qualified operators. Furthermore, the “Blue Flag” season will begin on the beaches of Platamona, Porto Ferro and Porto Palmas from 1 July with the activation of the services that must satisfy the suitability requirements of the Blue Flag: starting from the quality of the water, for which periodic sampling is envisaged to continue with the efficiency of the purification of waste water and the sewerage network, through the conservation and biodiversity of marine ecosystems and beach cleaning, separate collection and adequate management of hazardous waste.
