With the presentation of new coach Ignazio Abate and the new head of the youth sector, Carlo Mammarella, Ternana’s 2024/2025 season has officially begun. Also present at the meeting with journalists were president Nicola Guida and the sports director Stefano Capozucca.
The writing welcomed Ignazio Abate to the press room “Welcome mister” while Guida has the task of breaking the ice. “I thank the boss Capozucca who brought Mister Abate to Terni – begins Guida -. We are starting with a young and motivated coach capable of doing well in this place.” For Stefano Capozucca there was “need a young figure with enthusiasm. The relegation was a cause of sporting depression and the goal is to work as hard as possible. Serie C is not Ternana’s championship so we want to stay there as little as possible.”
Then the microphone passes to the new coach Ignazio Abbot. “I want to thank the president for how he welcomed me and the director who was the determining factor in agreeing to come a demanding and warm square who lives from football. After many years I am leaving an environment (Milan, ed.) that raised me. I don’t come to Terni to burn myself – continues the former Rossoneri player -. There was great empathy with the director. Obviously we will have to suffer in many difficult fields but we want to create a strong and cohesive group capable of doing well everywhere. Then we will have to be good at attracting the fans because we don’t want to have an anonymous championship and the permanence of the boss Capozucca is proof of this.”
For Carlo Mammarella it is a return but as head of the youth sector and close collaborator of Capozucca: “I thank you for the opportunity and I will try to make the most of it – he says -. I am available to the first team and as regards the youth sector there is the desire to do something important maybe bringing some profiles to the first team”
Then the focus shifts to the upcoming season and the future of the club. “We’ll do one competitive season – underlines President Guida -. The minimum goal are the playoffs. The squad will be competitive for this championship. The society? There are some expressions of interest but nothing concrete for now but I am looking for important partners.”
Then Stefano said Pumpkinhead clarifies some technical and market aspects: “Capuano will be the captain of Ternana 2024/2025. As for the goalkeeper Iannarilli he deserves respect, he is an extraordinary boy and I want to please him (Avellino, ed.). Some of the players with bigger contracts will be confirmed, some others will be sold. The mayor’s sponsorship Bandecchi? “Welcome.”
