Corigliano-Rossano. The “tragedy” of the Democratic Party is becoming a farce: the Rosellina Madeo and Calabrò cases. “The last one left turn out the light”

Despite the fact that the Democratic Party in the province of Cosenza, as in Calabria, is now a residual party of 14%, where everyone has the right to get in and out of it, like a taxi, according to their needs for personal affirmation and in some cases without not even pay the fare, undeterred the Guarantee Commission, chaired by the legal luminary Salvatore Perugini, continues unchallenged to resolve matters which, as it itself stated, are more of a political than administrative nature.

The truce proposed by Pecoraro on the recommendation of the national party ended with the vote and as if it were a real war the hostilities restarted which were also enriched by the new dispute of the local and European elections. To the previous events of the three municipal councilors of Cosenza who are members of the Democratic Party (Graziadio, Tinto and Trecroci), but advocates of the establishment of a new group in the Council, justified due to the impracticability of the field in the one directed by little Franco (Alimena), the puppy of the Adamo family -Bruno Bossio, there are the electoral events that concern, above all, the city of Corigliano-Rossano, where the Democratic Party achieved one of the worst national and Calabrian results… In the European elections with 9% and in the municipal elections with 3.5% , coming last on the lists in support of Mayor Stasi. It is also true that the administrative result cannot be counted because in the province of Cosenza Corigliano-Rossano is the only municipality where the Democratic Party presented its list and one of the very few where the symbol was presented in Calabria. It seems that some regional manager, commenting on the administrative vote of the Corigliano-Rossano Democratic Party, was quick to say: “fortunately we have not presented the symbol in other municipalities in our region…”.

In the meantime, it seems that the commission and the watchful eye of President Perugini have received, among the many appeals, the matter concerning the former group leader of the Democratic Party Rosellina Madeo, as well as a member of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party and elected provincial councilor of the Democratic Party thanks to agreement between the regional councilors Bevacqua and Iacucci and the newly elected mayor Stasi.

The appeal pending before the Guarantee Commission would concern the fact that Madeo, being the outgoing group leader and one of the top leaders of the Democratic Party in Corigliano-Rossano, would be accused of having abandoned the Party to its fate. In fact, she had been entrusted with the task, by Bevacqua and Iacucci and by the provincial secretary Pecoraro himself, of compiling the PD list for the municipal elections.

Madeo, after having verified that the part of the party linked to Stasi had no intention of running on the PD lists, preferring, on the contrary, the civic lists in support of the mayor, and that on the part of those linked to Mascaro locally and provincially in Nicola Adamo there was a real exodus from the centre-left towards the candidate for mayor of the centre-right Straface, she desisted from the position, also deciding to undertake, in agreement with Stasi, the easy path of the civic list, taking with her even some members who had already decided to run on the PD list.

Faced with this serious situation, those few members and candidates of the Democratic Party who remained stubborn in presenting the list, no matter what the cost, rebelled against Madeo, supported in this by Iacucci himself and against the opinion of the group leader Bevacqua, who was more attentive to the dynamics and local personal relationships. It is no coincidence that in the next few days the presentation of Mimmo Bevacqua’s book will take place in Rossano, in which Madeo herself is expected to speak.

If this is the picture, deciding becomes difficult for Perugini, especially if members of the commission participate in the decision such as Teodoro Calabrò, a very trusted member of the Adamo-Bruno Bossio family who in Corigliano-Rossano, in addition to supporting the centre-right Straface in the administrative elections, he is committed to the Italia Viva list and in particular to the candidate Candiano; while at the European elections, betraying Picerno of Adamo’s PD, he committed himself to the United States of Europe list in favor of Maraio and the local candidate Mascaro.

But Teodoro Calabrò is not the only one warned by the Guarantee Commission. There is also talk of the “incompatibility” of another member of the Commission: Pasquale Santoianni who, as is well known, supported the AVS candidate Maria Pia Funaro in the European elections, badly expelled from the Cosenza council by Mayor Caruso with the tacit consent of the Democratic Party. Santoianni, appointed to the commission at the provincial congress by Tursi, is now also an orphan of his godfather himself. In fact, even Tursi, struck by Tridico in the last elections, left the parent company to join the 5 Stars.

Faced with this substantial and constant haemorrhage of PD leaders, members and voters, Paietta’s famous line would come naturally: “the last one left turns off the light”.
At this point many people inside and outside the Democratic Party are wondering whether it would not be better to place the provincial bodies of Cosenza and perhaps also those of Calabria under commissionership to prevent the tragedy of the largest party of the Cosenza and Calabrian Left from turning into a ridiculous farce.
