“We have unblocked works that have been stagnant for decades”

Urbino, provincial capital, a recognition that is reflected in the entire territory and all spheres of citizens. Maurizio Gambini is certain of it and he also underlines it in these last days of the electoral campaign for the run-off.

There hasn’t been much talk about this topic, right?

“Now that this city has been recognized as the capital by a law of Parliament, effectively healing an administrative void that existed since the Unification of Italy, it has many more opportunities. We will play a stronger role, with more funding to intercept” .

Don’t they all agree?

“The novelty scares those who want to maintain power, in a certain part of the coast (not all). Instead it encourages businesses, productive activities, artisans, tourist operators. It is truly curious that a strengthening of Urbino in the territory and in the institutional tables can be read as a closure. The opposite is true: together with businesses and the entire economic fabric of the city we want to count more and encourage development”.

What does this mean for the economy?

“Recognition, combined with the production system and the territory, can give us much more strength. We want this development and know how to pursue it. We are those who said yes to the expansion area of an industry in Canavaccio, to the redevelopment of the former Osca area which will also serve as a trade fair and commercial hub for businesses and the territory; yes to the widespread hotel in the historic center for the establishment of commercial, management and service production activities and for tourist accommodation; Prg in the Ca’ Guerra area necessary for the construction of a new production hub, which will provide 250 jobs. The idea that those who are governing the city are those who have hindered these works by voting against or abstaining.

Why?

“Urbino would stop. In recent weeks I have met many people who share this vision with me. Growth is achieved thanks to precise choices and not with controversies over everything. We have chosen, after decades of waiting, to speed up the works necessary for the development of the University. I will mention two: the Petriccio and the Mattei Campus at Sogesta. Together with the University we have managed to put in place interventions that have been waiting for years, the same works that those who are now applying to administer have postponed for decades.” .

He changed his slogan, “let’s make history”. What does it mean?

“It’s not a slogan. It means that after 164 years, with the capital, we can write a new page, with new people who will enter the city administration. I’ve already mentioned one, Giulia Volponi. I mentioned the name and surname of the my deputy mayor. My opponents could have been equally transparent, choosing Carrabs, Giovannelli, Crespini, Azzarà and Pompilio among the candidates.”
