The summer season of the Varese Hippodrome is upon us: in view of the start scheduled for July 10th, all that is missing is the availability of the structures from the Municipality. In fact, the Ministry’s approval regarding the slopes arrived in the last few hours following the inspection which took place on Wednesday.

This was said by the president of Svicc (Varese horse racing increase company) Guido Borghi on the occasion of the meeting of the Sports Commission dedicated to the Hippodrome, which took place at the Bettole facility. “It will be usable, we have already seen the report from the Ministry technicians: from this point of view the races can be done”, said Borghi.

If the sand track was promoted for the grass track, the installation of a fence was requested and will be completed in a few days. However, the response from the Municipality is awaited, which the company will then have to communicate to the Ministry itself.

“We have received all the documentation – commented the sports councilor Stefano Malerba – the offices are working, I believe that within a maximum of a week we will have a clear picture”. In presenting the latest activities carried out in the structure, President Borghi mentioned the investment in the renovation of the lighting system. The installation of a new LED system costing almost 1 million euros is nearing completion. An innovation that will bring significant energy savings. During the commission, the topic of the future of the Bettole was also touched upon, with the agreement expiring next year. Borghi recalled the long commitment to the plant.

“On average, over the last 30 years, Varesina has made amortizations in the order of 500 thousand euros per year. All these investments were made to have a racecourse: Varese had a track and two grandstands. The Varese company has never approved a dividend. All the money he spent when he was making money went into the stands and structures that are in here.”
