Alternative for Anzio expresses solidarity and closeness to Indian community for the death at work of one of his compatriots which occurred in the province of Latina.
Singh Satman one of the many agricultural laborers who work 12 hours a day for 360 days a year in the Pontine countryside for less than 5 euros an hour even when temperatures exceed 40 degrees. Singh had an accident at work and instead of being helped, he and his amputated arm were thrown away like garbage.
An episode (one of many) which, beyond objective responsibilities, brings to light moral responsibilities from which none of us can escape. Our association was born in a neighborhood, Lavinio, where the Indian community is present and rooted, we know well the difficulties and the degree of exploitation of which the slaves of the third millennium are victims.
To denounce and fight the exploitation that is there for all to see, we have looked for ways and tools that facilitate any form of redemption. It is no coincidence that in 2018 a representative of the Indian community was a candidate on our list for the local elections, a community that we met on various occasions, not least the presentation of the book by Marco Omizzolo, a sociologist who has been involved in the fight against gangmastering for years. It was a precious opportunity useful for all of us to understand the extent of the phenomenon and which made the community feel less alone. This is the path we intend to pursue. We invite everyone who can to participate on June 25th in Latina at the demonstration alongside the Indian community, against slavery and murders at work.
