Over 900 votes (917 to be exact) which allowed her to open the doors of the Bari City Council where she will sit for the first time: Valeria Amoruso, 35 years old, was the most voted on the list Romito Mayor, the civic representative who came second among the teams supporting Fabio Romito, ready for the run-off with Vito Leccese next Sunday and Monday.
For Amoruso, a mother and active in the administrative and events management of a company, it will be her debut in the Dalfino chamber after a short and at the same time concentrated electoral rally. The Romito Mayor list brought, in addition to Amoruso, also Carlo Patruno to the Municipality and two councilors for Municipalities 1 and 3: “The campaign was intense, given that it took place – Amoruso tells BariToday – in a fairly short time. In fact we only found out 1 month after the vote that there would be an election. We have had to deal with many people who have remained unheard over the years and we hope to be their voice.”
“It is not my first electoral campaign – says Amoruso – but it is the first time that I will sit on the Council. I hope to bring the voice of many to the chamber. In addition to supporting families, I would still like to represent many people from Bari, like those we heard in the markets or who complained about the lack of urban decorum.
The new city councilor does not expect any particular surprises when she crosses the threshold of Palazzo di Città: “I hope – she reveals – to find a serene environment. Whether it is opposition or majority for us, we will have to work for the city and together with everyone. I hope not to find too many walls ahead. As a mother I would like to deal with the Welfare and equal opportunities commissions for issues concerning families and children”.
In the meantime, however, there are only a few hours left until the ballot: “We are ready to fight – he states -. I agree, for example, on many ideas with the candidate for mayor, a well-prepared, young and fresh person. Urban decorum, safety of the city. Romito is also one of the first mayoral candidates who proposes not to run again if he does not achieve his objectives”.
