Viterbo, Talotta: “Urgent reminder to respect the regional ordinance on stopping road works during the hottest hours”

VITERBO – We receive from Roberto Talotta and publish: “I hereby wish to bring to your attention a problem of extreme importance concerning the health and safety of the workers employed in the asphalting works of the city’s roads.

As is known, the Lazio Region has issued an ordinance requiring the interruption of outdoor work from 12.30 to 16.00, in order to protect workers from the risks associated with high temperatures during the hottest hours of the day. However, I have recently observed that, in several areas, asphalting works continue even during the specified interval, thus exposing workers to significant dangers to their health.

The scorching temperatures these days increase the risk of heat stroke, dehydration and other serious health consequences. It is essential that all those responsible for public works and the companies involved scrupulously respect the regional ordinance to prevent accidents and guarantee safe working conditions for all workers.

Having said this, it is necessary to urgently intervene to safeguard full compliance with current regulations. It is essential to intensify controls on construction sites and take rapid corrective measures so that risky works are suspended during the hours specified in Governor Rocca’s order.

Best regards”.
