velvet is the protagonist of Roberto Meloni’s exhibition at Quartu Sant’Elena – S&H Magazine

Roberto Meloni “Velvet Two”

The June 21st at 6.30 pm new appointment with the V-Art Quartu Exposition project at the Quartese exhibition space “The Social Gallery” in via Eligio Porcu, which will host the exhibition in an absolute preview “Velvet Two” of the painter Roberto Meloni curated by art critic Alessandra Menesini. The installations are curated by Davide Gratziu, the Artistic Direction of Giovanni Coda.

“Velvet Two, velvet again. Again this slippery material welcomes landscapes of evanescent brilliance. It is the nuanced tones, the colors that blend and move, barely contained by a low and equally labile horizon, that inhabit them. Misty grays and rosy dawns, in the new Velvet Two series. To divide the sky from the earth, a thin whitish and foggy line. Or it’s the red that explodes and there’s the green that mixes with the blues and the black that rises from jagged and vaguely threatening edges.

Something that resembles a comet crosses the nocturnal pattern of stars between the textures of a support full of light but decidedly restless. And therefore not at all suitable, one would say, to be painted. But Roberto Meloni is looking for difficulties. And so he began to duel with the elusive fabric, to observe its behavior, to test its yield. Spatulas, sponges, brushes, in the hands of the artist. For the clouds ready to melt into tiny drops, for the dark profiles, for the very light halos that can be reduced to a speck. For paintings that portray the concreteness of the impalpable”writes the curator Alessandra Menesini.

Entrance is free, the exhibition will be open to visitors until July 11, 2024 from Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. For info [email protected].
