BOLZANO. The police arrested two dangerous fugitivesall multiple offenders, against whom arrest orders issued by the judicial authority were pending.
Late on Friday evening, the patrols of the “Flying” Squad were sent for an intervention in Dominican Square for a report of a dispute. Arriving immediately on site, the police noticed that the situation had calmed down and proceeded to identify those present to clarify the context in which the report had arisen. At this juncture the officers noticed that one of these individuals was cautiously trying to move away to avoid checks by trying to board a passing public transport. Right away blocked by policemen before the bus left, the man immediately showed himself to be intolerant of the control and, for this reason – in addition to the fact that the identity document presented was completely torn and almost illegible – the officers decided to accompany him to the police station after having him get into the service car . Having understood that his inaction was now coming to an end, the foreigner – later identified as AY, 35 year old Moroccan citizen with criminal record and regularly on the national territory – began to thrash in a violent and uncontrolled manner, repeatedly hitting the 2 policemen in the hands and arms in an attempt to escape, but failing in this attempt only thanks to the extreme professionalism and determination of the police crews .
In the Police Headquarters offices, from the check of the database of the Ministry of the Interior against the man, a prison order emerged for the sentence of 2 years and 22 days of imprisonment following a conviction for persecutory acts, damage and illegal possession of weapons. The conviction follows an investigation by the Bolzano Flying Squad last year into the continuing crimes threats and damage that AY had repeatedly perpetrated against the employees of the Bolzano association “Volontarius”, which manages the “Casa Rossa” reception centre. In the past, the man had been reported by the Merano Public Safety Commissioner for similar acts (threats and damage) committed against a Merano shopkeeper. At the end of the drafting of the documents by the Judicial Police, AY was arrested and taken to the Bolzano prison; the man, moreover, was reported for violence and resistance to the detriment of the policemen, who were treated in the emergency room with injuries that healed in 6 days. The commissioner also ordered the revocation of AY’s residence permit, so that he could proceed with his expulsion once he had served his prison sentence.
Furthermore, late on Saturday evening, the agents of the Brenner police station carried out an arrest order issued by the judicial authority of Ancona against this SMA, a 37 year old Tunisian citizen, sent back to Italy by the Belgian authorities in execution of a European arrest warrant and handed over to the Italian police at the border. The man, fugitive since 2022must serve a sentence of 6 years and 3 months of imprisonment for numerous crimes, such as theft, receiving stolen goods and damage, committed especially in the Marche region. After the identification procedures, the arrested person was taken to the Bolzano prison. At the end of his sentence, he will be permanently expelled from our national territory and forcibly transferred to his country of origin.
