As part of targeted services aimed at combating irregularities in the food sector, the Carabinieri of the NAS of Latina, assisted by colleagues from the Territorial Force, carried out a series of inspections in the municipalities of Terracina, Pontinia and Aprilia, which led to the seizure of approximately 320 kilos of various foodstuffs found in violation of the failure to apply self-control procedures or without traceability and to the suspension of a catering business.

In particular, at a food wholesaler in the municipality of Aprilia, a quantity equal to approximately 120 kg of fresh pasta was administratively seized, since the person in charge of the activity had not respected the self-control procedures required for the conservation of the food in question, with particular regard to the abatement process. The fine foreseen in these cases is 2000 euros.

Another seizure in the food sector concerned a restaurant operating in the municipality of Terracina, where 200 kg of meat products, cheeses and cured meats were found, without suitable documentation certifying traceability that would allow the provenance to be verified, in violation of the law. This failure entails a fine of 1,500 euros for the owner.

Finally, in the municipality of Pontina, at a food and drink administration establishment, the serious hygienic, health and structural conditions detected by the NAS soldiers were such as to require the immediate intervention of the local ASL, which proceeded to suspend the inspected activity, in addition to the expected fine of 1000 euros.
