The “Strait Tourism Meeting” is split in two and for the 2024 edition it will touch both shores: Messina (from 23 to 26 June) and Reggio Calabria (from 27 to 29 June). The details of the initiative, which will see the participation of important operators in the tourism sector, buyers, journalists from specialized magazines and influencers from Italy and abroad, were illustrated in a press conference by theindigo Basile and the councilors Finocchiaro and Caruso.
Also present at the meeting were representatives of the Strait Port Authority, the Chamber of Commerce, the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria and the State Forestry Company, as institutional partners, who, together with the regional tourism department, shared the event, promoted by the municipal administration.
The objective of the Meeting, now in its second edition, is to include the cities of the Strait in the itineraries of national and international experiential tourism. The formula of the “Meeting Tourism of the Strait” includes the presence of Italian and foreign buyers to whom the peculiarities of the territory of the Strait Integrated Area will be presented, with its historical, environmental and food and wine beauties.
Through scheduled meetings it will also be offered to sector operators lopportunity to present oneself to buyers, upon reservation, with the “B2B” formula.
The Meeting enjoys the patronage of the Irish airline Ryanair, which recently activated new national and European routes to the “Tito Minniti” Strait Airport.
Among the novelties of the 2024 edition, the event will be enriched in the next few days by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Metropolitan City of Messina and that of Reggio Calabria aimed at the creation of joint initiatives for the tourism promotion of the Strait Metropolitan Area .
Federico Basile is satisfied especially with the synergy with Reggio Calabria which allows for a broader vision, even more so with a Strait airport which thanks to Ryanair is becoming attractive again.
