The fourth appointment of the “Meeting with the author” event promoted by BCsicilia Bagheria will be held on Saturday 22 June 2024 at 5.30 pm. This month the writer Giankarim De Caro will be a guest. After the presentation by Cristina Sciortino, of the BCsicilia Board of Directors of Bagheria, she will dialogue with the author Maria Giammarresi, President of BCsicilia of Bagheria. Giankarim De Caro is certainly a new voice among the panorama of Sicilian writers. His first novel dates back to 2018, but with his five literary works he has already surpassed the threshold of 20,000 books sold. To what does he owe his success? Perhaps to ancient and very powerful writing, as Litizzetto defined it, which unravels plots that never give way, set in a decadent Palermo, as per the commentary on the first novel, Malavita. It is a Palermo never described, but told through historical events ranging from the end of the 19th century to the present day, the city in which De Caro’s characters move. Defeated, always on the margins of life, who accept everything, tolerate everything, because they can do nothing against hostile destiny.
