“Nothing will remain of the Gallarate hospital”

«In Gallarate, once its hospital is decommissioned, nothing will remain. Finished. Everything closed except the Boito pavilion.” The board of Objective Comune Gallarate says so, the civic list which is carrying out a continuous mobilization on the Sant’Antonio Abate hospital.

The latest intervention comes the day after the vote on a motion voted (and rejected by the centre-right majority) in the regional council, at Pirellone. A text proposed by the minority councilors Licata, Astuti and Ferrazzi, which the centre-right did not however share.

«Finally – comments OCG – the political majority that governs the region has removed the mask, confirming that, despite the usual chatter we do not want to underwrite in any way that “significant territorial functions” must be placed in the spaces of what will be the former S.Antonio Abate. Nothing more».

The initiative for Sant’Antonio Abate will now resume at a local level: «Soon the Gallarate City Council will also vote on a text similar to the one discussed yesterday in the region, thanks to the motion filed over a month ago by councilor Gnocchi of Objective Comune Gallarate . This way, even in the city it will be clear to the citizens who we will have to thank for the upcoming cancellation of every health facility in Gallarate.”

Below is the full press release

Today it has been 264 days, compared to the 60 foreseen by the regional regulation, that the over 13 thousand signatories of the petition for the maintenance of the Gallarate Hospital have been waiting for a response from the Lombardy Region.

While we wait, we want to express our sincere thanks to the minority councilors Ferrazzi (first signatory), Licata and Astuti and to the majority councilor Gallizzi, for having asked the Council to express with a clear vote which health services it intends to leave in Gallarate.

The response, not at all obvious after the bombastic proclamations, was bitterly clear and firm: once its hospital is decommissioned, there will be nothing left in Gallarate.

Finished. Everything closed except the Boito pavilion.

Finally, the political majority that governs the region has removed its mask, confirming that, despite the usual chatter, it does not want to underwrite in any way that “significant territorial functions” should be located in the spaces of what will be the former S.Antonio Abate.

Nothing more.

The people of Gallararate and the inhabitants of neighboring municipalities will not be able to access even the most basic basic services in the city area.

Don’t forget councilor Monti of the League, who defined our initiative as “instrumental”, that in Gallarate and not only his party led by the mayor and provincial secretary Cassani is in constant decline in consensus also due to the intransigent position on the closure of the hospital.

On the other hand, it seems legitimate to us to suspect that the councilor of FI Gallera has not read the text well or perhaps has not understood it: he forgets that it is the number of citizens that proportionally determines the number of hospitals and not the opposite, Milan in fact has 31!

Review the health history of the lower Varese area under councilor Gallera where two hospitals have coexisted for over a century and an intercontinental airport for several years.

We can only invite councilor Zocchi of FdI to listen better to the words of one of his party colleagues who has a different opinion on the same topic, the Honorable Mantovani who has clearly expressed himself in recent days.

Soon the Gallarate City Council will also vote on a text similar to the one discussed yesterday in the region, thanks to the motion filed over a month ago by councilor Gnocchi of Objective Comune Gallarate.

Thus, even in the city it will be clear to the citizens who we will have to thank for the upcoming cancellation of every health facility in Gallarate.
