“Scenari” Modica literary festival returns for the third edition

The literary festival “Scenari. The look and the story” will be held in the city of Modica (Ragusa) from June 24th to July 28th, organized by the Garibaldi Theater Foundation with the superintendent Tonino Cannata and Piera Ficili’s Mondadori Bookstore. This year, now in its third edition, the festival will enliven the city’s squares, buildings and alleys for five consecutive weekends with literary and cultural meetings and debates.

Among the venues for the events will be Palazzo San Domenico, the former Convent of Carmine, the churches of San Giorgio and San Pietro, the steps of San Giovanni and the churchyard of the Madonna delle Grazie. The event is made possible thanks to the synergy between local institutions, represented by Mayor Maria Monisteri and Ignazio Abbate, president of the first Institutional Affairs commission at ARS, and private sponsors such as Mutika EMC, Coop Sicilia, Avimec, Leocata Alimentimi, Gruppo Inventa Design and ST Sergio Tumino.

After the success of previous editions with illustrious guests such as Daria Bignardi, Walter Veltroni, Lidia Ravera, Antonio Manzini, Simonetta Agnello Hornby, Paolo Crepet, Catena Fiorello, Pierfrancesco Diliberto and Enrico Mentana, this year too Modica will welcome numerous important authors.

The following weekend will see Paolo Mieli discuss “The authoritarian century” on Friday 28 June, followed by Valentina Romani with “Guarda che è vero” on Saturday 29 and Giovanni Grasso with “L’amore non lo visto nobo” on Sunday 30.

On Saturday 6 July, Serena Bortone will present “A te neighbor so sweet”, while Sunday 7th will be dedicated to detective stories with Piergiorgio Pulixi and Massimo Carlotto.

The weekend of 12-14 July will be characterized by events related to literature, cinema and theatre, with Ludovico Tersigni, Stefano Massini and Vinicio Marchioni. The closing of the festival, on July 28th, will be entrusted to Luca Bizzarri who will present “They don’t have a friend”. The official illustration of the festival was created by Giovanni Robustelli, a well-known figurative artist. All meetings will take place at 9.00pm, with free entry while seats last.
