An increasingly close collaboration, extended to the entire province, between traders and police forces under the “direction” of the Prefecture. This is the meaning of the memorandum of understanding linked to video surveillance and signed today – Thursday 20 June – at Villa Recalcati between the Prefect, Salvatore Pasquariellothe presidents of Confcommercio and Confesercenti (Rudy Collini and Bernardo Bianchessi) e the representatives of the Police, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza.
«We are pleased to renew a previous initiative, active at a national level between the main trade associations and the Ministry of the Interior, which had already been activated in Varese in 2016 – explained Prefect Pasquariello – The duration of the protocol will be three years and provides for even closer collaboration between the subjects involved.”
In particular, the updating of the agreement will be able to count on a new “control room” (“an operational point on which I am committed” underlined the Prefect) made up of representatives of the police forces and a representative of both Confcommercio and Confessors. A way to better coordinate both the operation of the video surveillance systems connected live with the police operations centers and the requests for adherence to the protocolbut also to make intervention quicker and more precise in the event of faults and anomalies in the technological devices used.
«This is a protocol in continuity with what has already been defined but above all a collaboration between the economic world and the police forces which is fundamental for the safety of our historic centers and our neighborhoods – explains Collini – These agreements make cities safer and allow quicker and more precise intervention. Video surveillance is a tool, but numerous collaborations can start from this table between us, always with a view to well-being and safety.”
