The CEB has appointed the new contacts for the Regional Offices and Services

The new leaders of the Episcopal Conference of Basilicata were unanimously elected, with Monsignor Davide Carbonaro as president.

In a press release issued by the Episcopal Conference of Basilicata (CEB), the election of Monsignor Davide Carbonaro, metropolitan archbishop of Potenza-Muro Lucano-Marsico Nuovo, as the new president of the CEB was announced. The decision was taken unanimously by the bishops of the Lucanian dioceses, taking into account the legal-canonical specificity of the Metropolitan Province of Potenza and the Ecclesiastical Region of Basilicata.

In addition to the appointment of Monsignor Carbonaro, Monsignor Vincenzo Orofino as Vice President and Monsignor Francesco Sirufo as Secretary were confirmed. The episcopal delegations for the Regional Commission and Services Offices of the CEB were distributed as follows:
– Monsignor Carbonaro he will be the contact person for the Synodal Path, the training of the clergy and the permanent diaconate, the consecrated life, the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Basilicata, the Theological Institute of Basilicata, the Interdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Basilicata, the penitentiary pastoral care, the school, the universities and the teaching of the Catholic religion, ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.
– Monsignor Orofino will have responsibility for evangelization and cooperation between the Churches and the promotion of economic support for the Catholic Church.
– Monsignor Damn he will take care of the catechetical office, the liturgical office, the health pastoral care, Caritas, the regional bioethics center and Fies.
– Monsignor Fanelli he will be responsible for social problems, work, peace and the protection of creation, the pastoral care of migrants, the finances of the ecclesiastical Province, social communications, cultural heritage, religious buildings and the legal observatory.
– Monsignor Sirufo it will manage the pastoral care of the family, vocations, youth, lay Christians and groups, the protection of minors and vulnerable people, and sport, tourism and free time.

The appointment of the new Director of the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences (ISSR) of Matera, Don Gallitelli, was also approved and the innovations relating to the Institute were examined. Furthermore, the bishops assessed the situation of the Theological Institute of Basilicata (ITB), with the visit of the Dean of the Faculty, Father Anselmo.

As regards the training of clerics, the rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary of Basilicata, Don Antonio Polidoro, was heard. The bishops approved the 2024-2025 programming for training and service to families, and discussed the possible institution of catechists with a rethink of Christian initiation for children and young people. The regional conference of catechists and priests is scheduled for next October 5-6.

Finally, the regional delegation of Catholic Action (AC) was received, which presented the regional initiative of the Frassati route, scheduled for 4 July on the paths of Trivigno.
