The Marian Art exhibition will take place from 28 to 30 JuneIanua Coeli” at the Parish Sanctuary of Maria Santissima Immacolata Anime Sante of Bagheria, in Piazza Cirrincione.

The “Ianua Coeli” art exhibition is an initiative promoted by the youth group of the Maria SS Parish. Immaculate Conception – Holy Souls in Bagheria (PA) and by the parish priest Don Giovanni Basile. It is an art exhibition dedicated to one of the most represented subjects in the history of art: the Madonna.

In 1954 the then Cardinal Ernesto Ruffini crowned the simulacrum of the Immaculate Conception which is venerated in the Parish, calling her “Mother and Queen of Bagheria”. To honor our beloved Queen, the youth group, in concert with the parish priest, have decided to organize an exhibition of sacred art in homage to her, involving all the workers of our territory.

The art exhibition has the aim of promoting, exceptionally with an event never held in Bagheria until today, on the one hand the devotion to the Madonna and on the other to enhance the arts and craftsmanship of the numerous talents of which our territory it is particularly rich. This gives the exhibition a cultural and social value that goes beyond the religious aspect, aspiring to the promotion and recovery of Sicilian genius.

The vast range and variety of the artists involved constitutes the most original point of our event; among them there are in fact illustrious names and young newcomers, art veterans and new recruits.

There are very established artists with a long career behind them such as Carlo Puleo, Vincenzo Gennaro, Lucia Stefanetti, Paolo Turturro, Giuseppe Tuzzolino. These are just some of the illustrious names alongside many others, perhaps less famous, but no less good.

The works are the most disparate: paintings, sculptures, icons, engravings, wood carvings, iron sculptures, embroidery, miniatures, nativity scenes and nativity scenes. Nothing is missing to delight the sight and the spirit in front of such an excellent gallery of works that will truly make you touch the sky.
