The safety table with traders has been reactivated which includes the promotion of the installation of video surveillance systems, which the Region and Chamber of Commerce could finance. Furthermore, connections between shops and operations rooms will be strengthened. And above all, the owners and security guards will become sentinels of the territory who will report situations of degradation to the police.

A “leopard patch” situation, with some areas of the city more exposed to thefts and other predatory crimes partly attributable also to people in difficulty sometimes due to drug use. This is the picture that emerged on Wednesday 19 June in Turin during the meeting of the Provincial Committee for public order and safety, chaired by the prefect Donato Cafagna, in which the safety situation of commercial establishments was examined. The need has arisen for a new plan, developed during the meeting, for prevention and surveillance with private security institutions and for a control room to guarantee effective anti-robbery connections between traders and the police. An action will also be launched to raise awareness among operators for the installation of passive defense measures, such as video surveillance systems, for which the Piedmont Region and the Turin Chamber of Commerce have ensured that they will evaluate forms of financial support. The commissioner, Vincenzo Ciarambino, representatives of the carabinieri, the financial police, the municipal administration and the trade associations, including Confcommercio and Confesercenti, participated in the committee.
