We have created a small guide for you with all the events not to be missed, from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd Junein Palermo and around Sicily.

FESTIVALS AND EXHIBITIONS
Although the first events took place last week, the upcoming one is officially the Palermo Pride 2024 weekend, in which the key events are scheduled.

One above all: the procession on Saturday 22 June which, as always, is the most awaited and significant event. The parade starts from Via Roma and winds along the city center arriving at the Zisa Cultural Sites (details on the route of the procession and the map of closed roads are in one of our articles).

After the parade, the official evening of Palermo Pride 2024 follows, with the interventions of Palermo Pride and the final party, the live showcase of this year’s two godmothers, BigMama and Simona Malato, with Santamarea and the drag queen Aura Eternal.

To open the review there is Arturo Sandoval Sunday 23 June at the Teatro di Verdura.

More great music this weekend in Palermo. The new 2024 summer season of the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra is inaugurated. The appointment is Friday 21 June, at 9.00 pm, in Piazza Ruggero Settimo for the first concert on the bill, which coincides with the Summer Solstice.

A cheerful and funny story in which the anniversary celebrations lead two engaged couples to a daring sequence of events and hilarious gags. A laugh-out-loud show.

EXPERIENCES
A “magical” place in which to get lost among the deceptions of the mind, optical illusions and games of perspective. Let’s talk about City of Illusionsthe space in Palermo that welcomes adults and children into the magical world of optical illusions and which in summer offers a series of special visits, all accompanied by promotions, free gadgets and many surprises.

A journey made up of attractions and installations but also of works of art and games that deceive the human eye into perceiving something that is not real or is different from reality.

A different experience, Sunday 16 June, thanks to the “Breakfast at the museum” offered by Pitt and included for free with the purchase of a ticket for the visit in one of the shifts scheduled from 10.00 to 12.40.

New summer (and evening) season for adults and children at Villa Tasca Park of Palermo. This weekend too, many activities await you designed for both groups of friends and families, including culture, football, good food and fun. Discover the detailed program of the weekend.

Guided tours, nature trails, lunch with the monks, beer tasting and aperitif under the stars. L’Abbey of San Martino delle Scaleone of the largest in Europe, opens its doors, Sunday 23 June, for a long day full of events dedicated to history, nature but also Benedictine spirituality and Sicilian culinary traditions.

This year too you can see the most beautiful summer solstice in Sicily: the appointment with the extraordinary rite of light at the Pyramid 38th Parallel in Motta d’Affermo, the majestic sculpture of the Fiumara d’Arta commissioned by Antonio Presti, returns.

Two weekends – Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June and the following weekend Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June – of free visits to admire the magic of the light that filters into the sculpture. “Give thanks for ingratitude” is the theme chosen for the summer solstice 2024.

VISITS AND EXCURSIONS
From 21 to 23 June the Italian Touring Club presents “Open for you under the stars“, the annual event that promotes visits to places of art and culture in the country.

In Palermo the special openings involve three jewels usually closed to the public: the Church of Santa Cristina La Vetere, the Chapel of Maria Santissima della Soledad and the Anglican Church “Holy Cross”.

CHILDREN AND BOYS
From 10 June to 26 July (from Monday to Friday), the Città dei Ragazzi hosts the Tempo d’estate, organized by “Le Vie dei Tesori” which co-manages the space with the Municipality (for children aged 5 and up) with three different programs divided by theme and age groups.

A way to live a few hours of the day in close contact with nature, engaged in green workshops, activities and theatre, even for the little ones.

EXHIBITIONS
The weekend is also an opportunity to immerse yourself 360 degrees in culture, with a visit to the most beautiful exhibitions and exhibitions around the city. An interactive and cross-media exhibition, which offers a real journey through time to discover the Palermo of the Belle Époque.

Palermo regains possession of one of its hearts, the ancient palace overlooking its most famous square: Piazza Pretoria.

Bonocore Palace is ready to recover its memory using the most modern technologies thanks to the “Palermo Felicissima” exhibition, which can be visited until 30 September.
