Mother, the debut of the young composer Tramontano at the Teatro Municipale

Tear the veil on indissoluble bonds between mother and child, explore the complexity of human emotions and highlight the fragility of life, to offer the public an intimate vision of the human condition. These are the objectives of “Mother”, operapresented on Friday afternoon in the XNL Musica spaces, which will be staged on June 21st at 8.30 pm at the Teatro Municipale of Piacenza.

Present at the meeting was the young author, Davide Tramontanoborn in 2000, a composition student at the Nicolini Conservatory, who has already obtained important recognition in the world of music, such as the Bruno Bettinelli Prize and the Second Prize at the XXIX edition of the 2 Agosto International Composition Competition.

“I am firmly convinced – stated Tramontano – that this work of mine can touch the hearts of those who listen to it, exploring the universal emotions linked to family, loss and resistance to adversity. Today more than everexpansion of the operatic repertoirethrough the commission of new titles, offers a fundamental enriching experience to the public, especially in an era in which art and culture are crucial”.
Mother saw the light thanks to the commission of the Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza, in co-production with the Nicolini Conservatory: “We decided to produce the Opera to enhance the talent, not only of the great composer Tramontano, but also of all the students of the Conservatory, musical university with which we happily collaborate” he declared Cristina Ferrari director of the Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza who participated in the presentation with the Nicolini composition teacher Barbara Rettagliati, the director of the Conservatory Maria Grazia Petrali and the coordinator of “Incontri in Bibliotec@” Patrizia Florio.

The one-act opera is directed by Daniele Balleello leading the Contemporary Ensemble of the Nicolini Conservatory, directed by Roberto Recchia and is performed by four young opera singers: Caterina Meldolesi, Corina Baranovschi, Liu Ziyu and Jing Mingyu. “Mother” also makes use of the electronics of Francesco Altilio, the costumes of Michele Giannini, a student of the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari, and is a free adaptation by Tramontano of the play Riders to the Sea (1904) by the Irish playwright John Millington Synge (1871 – 1909).
