Sicily Region: 10 million euros arriving for the purchase of fodder
Vouchers will be provided quickly to Sicilian farmers for the purchase of fodder for the animals. The provision to counteract the effects of droughtwanted by the president of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani, provides for an allocation of 10 million euros and today received the favorable opinion of the third Productive Activities Commission of the Sicilian Regional Assembly. This last step will now allow the regional Agriculture Department to complete the procedure and publish the notice with which farmers will be able to submit applications. “I thank the Ars Productive Activities Commission for sharing the urgency and opportunity of this measure – says Schifani – in this way we keep a commitment made with Sicilian farmers. I have given instructions so that all the bureaucratic steps for the provision of benefits are quick. We are fully aware of the emergency and we stand alongside the operators of a fundamental sector for the entire economy of the island. The commitment of my government – underlines the President of the Region – will always be maximum, but I consider synergy and sharing of efforts to protect and enhance Sicilian agriculture and face together this crisis due to the continuing drought”. The decree signed by the general director of the department, Dario Cartabellotta, provides that the contribution is paid according to the criterion of proportionality with respect to the damage suffered by the companies and that the fodder can be purchased directly from a list of suppliers made available by the Region. There request will need to be submitted through Agricultural Assistance Centres, who will forward the request to the Agriculture Department. Farmers will then be able to collect the product at the Dittaino industrial area (Enna) or another point that will be defined after consulting the professional trade organisations. The contribution will be paid, until the resources are exhausted, through the issue of a “voucher” that can be used for the purchase of fodder from suppliers identified by the Region and included in a special register. Calabria Region: payment of the balance of the 2023 Single Application begins
The Calabrian regional agency for agricultural disbursements reports this, confirming the start of the liquidation procedures of 7,259,331.55 euroswith a deadline for the same set at Next June 30th, date established by community regulations to carry out the payments of aid relating to Sigc applications (PSP Surfaces/Animals and Single Application). Basilicata Region: an ordinance issued to protect workers from the heat

This is what is established by Ordinance no. 1 of 18 June 2024 issued by the president of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi. “The ordinance was adopted promptly – states President Bardi – aims to protect and safeguard the health of thousands of busy workers in Basilicata, during the summer season, in an intense activity of harvesting and moving fruit, vegetables and typical seasonal products, without the possibility for workers to shelter from the sun and heat in moments of the day characterized by a notable rise in temperature which sees Basilicata overwhelmed by an exceptional wave hot with record highs of over 40°”.
