“Wheat from harvest to bread, pasta and pizza”: this is the title of the initiative organized by Coldiretti Siena and Campagna Amica which will take place on Saturday 22 June from 9 to 12 at the Campagna Amica market in Siena in via Paolo Frajese.

The event “Wheat from harvest to bread, pasta and pizza”, as well as in Siena, will also be celebrated at a national level, because tastings, cooking shows and product displays will be organized in many markets of Campagna Amica, with the objective of carrying forward Coldiretti’s activities aimed at protecting the Mediterranean diet which is continually attacked and imitated. Even in Siena there will therefore be no shortage of tastings of bread, pasta and bruschetta, all based on local delicacies produced by Sienese associates.

The Coldiretti markets are not just a place of commerce, but over the years they have become real “laboratories” and product dissemination centers which, through close contact with consumers, have favored the spread of a correct food culture based on quality, safety, connection with the territory and respect for the principles of the Mediterranean Diet, today put at risk by the spread of deceptive systems such as Nutriscore which fail the excellence of Made in Italy at the table.

Cereal production in the province of Siena records important numbers, there are around 2,100 companies that produce cereals and generate around 1 million 200 thousand quintals between durum wheat and soft wheat and which represents a large portion of Tuscan production, around 30 %.
