Yesterday the trial of a thirty-year-old truck driver from the province, dragged to court by his ex-partner on charges of family mistreatment and injuries, ended with acquittal. The woman accused him of putting his hands around her neck while she was breastfeeding her son on March 25 a year ago.

The trucker’s version

Regarding the matter, the young man in court last February declared: “I never attacked her. A few days earlier she cut me in the side with a pair of scissors.” The lorry driver, on that occasion after showing the scar of the wound to the collegiate trio, had explored the nature of the relationship. “We only lived together on paper – he explained -. On weekends, when I returned from work trips, I stopped to sleep at my mother’s. The times I slept at my ex’s can be counted on the fingers of one hand.”

“On March 18th a year ago I went to her to see our son who was two months old at the time. While we were at home she saw a message from my ex-partner and an uproar broke out. When I was about to leave she hit me with scissors on her left side. I had taken my things away from her house already on March 3rd – she had specified she-her, as she did not want me to attend my daughter’s birthday party, from a previous relationship. We argued because she demanded that I cut ties with my daughter’s mother, with the little girl and also with my mother. I didn’t go to the emergency room so as not to get her in trouble, but in hindsight maybe I should have reported her.”
