The competitive season of the Società Nuoto Master Grosseto branded Tuttauto Daviddi opens with excellent results in the Italian open water championship.

Over the last weekend, two cross-country and middle-distance races were held on the island of Giglio, over a distance of 5000 and 2500 meters respectively.

The first day of competition saw 70 starters at the start in the five kilometers with an excellent performance for the Maremma standard bearer Simone Di Sabato, second overall and first in the M 45 category. An excellent performance by Luca Antonio Barbini, first in the M60 category. Fourth in category M55 Giuseppe Bosco.

Good performance by Andrea Agostini instead in the M 55 category and by Alessandro Bruni in the M 50.

On the second day of competition it was the turn of the middle distance over the distance of 2500 meters where a shower of medals arrived for the Maremma people. Among around one hundred participants there were 18 from the Nuoto Grosseto company.

Overall winner in perfect athletic condition was the usual Simone Di Sabato with a time of 33’30”, according to Nicola Soldati from Grosseto.

These are the other medals: Elena Desideri third in the M 55 category, Michele Tassi first in the M 40 category, Mario Corrias first in the M 55 category, Matteo Bigozzi second in the M 35 category, Walter Pastorella and Rossano Piccionetti second and third respectively in the M 65 category, Raffaele Salzillo second in the M 35 category. Good performances for the other athletes Roberta Agrumi, Marco Sozzi, Nazareno Costanzi, Simone Fabrizi, Massimo Benvenuti, Marina Piccinetti, Franca Bottaini, Alessandro Ceccarelli, Lucilla Mancini. All athletes who have contributed to keeping the name of the Grosseto club high in the waters of the island of Giglio.

Next meeting this weekend in Piombino for the Tuscan open water master swimming championships.
