One year and ten months of imprisonment for persecutory acts – the crime, initially classified as mistreatment, was thus reclassified – and compensation of 10 thousand euros to the ex-wife. This is the penalty established by the Terni court in collegial composition – president Simona Tordelli – against a 32-year-old originally from Iran, for the conduct implemented against the woman – 31-year-old from Brazil – which had also led to the application of the measure of the approach ban, revoked with the sentence issued by the court.
The two had separated but the contacts, although occasional, continued due to the management of the couple’s daughter, a minor. The facts detailed by the accusation begin in 2021, with offenses, obscenities and then – in 2023 – even decidedly more brutal episodes. Like when the 32-year-old – it was the month of September – had attacked his ex-wife’s new partner after meeting him on the street with her. A ‘dose’ escalated a few days later in words, with new threats (“if I had a gun I would have shot you all”, “I’ll kill him anyway”). Hence the complaints, the criminal proceedings and therefore the conviction issued on Tuesday in Terni. The suspension of the sentence was conditional on the payment of compensation to the 31-year-old, civil party through the lawyer Stefania Severi.
In light of the decision, the defendant’s defender, Francesco Mattiangeli, says he is «moderately satisfied due to the reclassification of the crime and the overall low sentence. We will evaluate, in light of the reasons, whether to appeal anyway, given that my client has always maintained that the disputed episodes were in reality simple ‘disagreements’ linked to the management of his daughter”.
