A young man 19 years he lost his life after diving into the river to Lambro Bridge, in the province of How. The boy, who was spending the afternoon with some friends, had dived into the water and then never resurfaced. Only a few hours later he was recovered by divers, but there was nothing more that could be done.
He dives into the Lambro and never resurfaces
The episode occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday 18 June in Ponte Lambro, in the province of Como, where a young resident of Canzo lost his life.
According to what we learn, the 19-year-old was along the banks of the Lambro river together with some friends, to spend a few hours in company. But from one moment to the next, tragedy struck.
The boy, in fact, dived into the water and never resurfaced. The friends, having realized that the 19-year-old had been swallowed by the river, immediately called for help as soon as they no longer saw him re-emerge.
The rescue and the discovery
The alarm was immediately raised and firefighters and 118 personnel rushed to the scene.
After several hours of searching, with the help of experts from the Alpine river speleo unit and with the Drago helicopter that arrived from Malpensa, the 19-year-old was found and subsequently recovered.
Death during transport by air ambulance
The intervention of the firefighters from the helicopter was necessary to recover and secure the 19-year-old. The firefighters lowered themselves with the winch, reached the boy and recovered him
For the young man, despite the rescue and every attempt at resuscitation by the 118 staff, there was nothing that could be done.
The 19-year-old was declared dead while being taken to hospital by air ambulance.
