In Turin the wide field in the square for the Constitution

TURIN. It was born as a demonstration divided into two squares, the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement. Then the two parties that split in Piedmont decided to unite in Piazza Palazzo di Città, gathering a few hundred people.

The watchword is the defense of the Constitution against the two key government reforms: premiership and autonomy. “We are in the square together, here as in other cities, to give a strong signal to the country, which asks us to be together,” says the regional secretary of the Democratic Party, Mimmo Rossi. Alongside her, Sarah Disabato of the M5S: «This morning I called the provincial secretary of Mazzù and told him: “let’s unite”». Then, she specifies: «On the issues that we have in common, we will also present a common front in the Region, but we evaluate each case individually».

The broad camp united against premiership and autonomy

The most convinced to unite the opposition is Sara Diena, who will soon become group leader in the city council after the election of Alice Ravinale at Palazzo Lascaris: «We are here to demonstrate that the united left has the power to counter a right that wants to widen the divide: we contrast the so-called autonomy of the rich with a clear idea of equality, fairness and redistribution.” And the square also brings together the various souls of the Democratic Party, from the Schleinians (the candidate Gianna Pentenero, the surgeon Mauro Salizzoni) to the Bonaccinians (Enzo Lavolta, the provincial leader Marcello Mazzú), waiting for the regional secretariat at 8pm.
