Prato, 18 June 2024 – I Merchants Of Piazza Santa Maria delle Carceri join forces and organize four special events, in the shadow of the Emperor’s Castle, for the Thursdays in July scheduled in the center of Prato in the summer. It starts on Thursday 4th July, and then continues on 11th, 18th and 25th July. The menu includes live music starting from 7pm, with entertainment featuring guitar, voice and sax. And then open windows until midnight, with an offer consisting of pizzeria, focacceria, aperitifs, quality catering, children’s and women’s clothing shops, perfumes, jewelery and dream homes. Promoting the initiative are all the traders in the square: Dek, Shark, Ivy, La Maison Case da Sogno, Mascot, Primigi, Vbrand and Caffè Poirot.
The parish priest of the Basilica delle Carceri also supports the merchants, Don Carlo Stancari who personally made himself available to guide the people of Prato on underground visits to the church. The appointment, every Thursday July, it’s at 9.30pm. The visit will last about half an hour, will be open to about 30/40 participants, will start from inside the Basilica and then lead to a visit to the underground. A very particular experience, enriched by the stories of the priest, the greatest expert on the Basilica. “We want to make our contribution to making the square and the center of Prato alive, animated and full of interesting initiatives for citizens – explain the traders – Every Thursday there will be a real celebration of dining, shopping and entertainment, with the square decorated, with background music and a complete commercial offer. We live in the square all year round, we are perfectly aware of its potential and we believe it is right to enhance it with quality initiatives”.
Among the ideas on the part of the traders there is also that of involving the players of the Palla Grossa, specifically the Azzurri of Santa Maria (who bear the name of the square), so as to create a further sense of aggregation and establish a synergy with one of the manifestations of the tradition of the city of Prato. Footballers who will return to the arena in Piazza del Mercato Nuovo in September for the matches against Rossi, Verdi and Gialli. “These four events represent just a starting point for us – conclude the traders – The idea is to start with the four Thursdays in July and then organize more stable initiatives, to be spread throughout the year. In order to make the square come alive more and more for Prato residents and tourists, making it even more of a place for gatherings, shopping, good restaurants and free time.”
