“The current city traffic situation in Salerno has become unsustainable. Daily reports highlight haywire traffic on most road axes, with direct consequences on the quality of life of those who live in the city or pass through it by public or private transport , not to mention the repercussions on the efficiency of commercial activities.
The Gatto viaduct, a vital artery for city and commercial mobility, is the subject of heated debates every day, considering its strategic importance for the connection with the Port. The slow pace of work for the opening of the West Gate, designed to relieve heavy traffic from the viaduct, is a source of frustration and concern, but today concrete solutions are needed and not just wait-and-see solutions. The Municipality of Salerno urged Anas for immediate intervention, but the actions taken proved insufficient.
It is necessary for the competent authorities to work towards an effective traffic management plan, which can prevent and mitigate what has been happening for days now. We ask that all the necessary efforts be made, that we move from words to deeds, guaranteeing the people of Salerno safe and fluid mobility, worthy of a modern and dynamic tourist city”.
