Frost. The moderate-centre-right pact, in the days preceding the ballot, has seen a sort of large-scale return. The leavers of “Alleanza per Gela”, despite clear divisions, have started to say yes to the Cosentino project. The leader of the political split within the city centre-right, Salvatore Scerra, also did so. The electoral campaign was harsh especially in the area derby but Scerra, in the end, explained that he will support the engineer. A meeting between the two, to make it official, was supposed to be held today but it seems to have been postponed. The outcry generated by the move of the outgoing city councilor, whose race for the mayor’s seat stopped in the first round, was certainly not lacking. Among those who left, several anticipated Scerra, saying they were ready to support the official parties that are in the Cosenza coalition. “Honestly, despite having already spoken to some of them previously – explains Northern League member Ennio Di Pietro – I still don’t understand why they wanted to give life to “Alleanza per Gela”. If there had been an overall confluence on Cosentino, we probably would have already won. However, I believe that everyone is free to make their own decisions. Now, we move forward together to win the runoff.” Di Pietro, with the other Salvini candidates, was part of the “bicycle” shared by the exponents of the “Cosentino mayor” list, dragged by the over a thousand votes of the entrepreneur Angelo Caci. He has faith in the existing project, especially with respect to the role of the parties. “It is important that all the parties of the coalition are represented in the future council – he continues – it is essential to have direct continuity with the Region and with the relevant references in the Schifani government. We know we can get feedback from the Turano regional councilor, also on the level of interventions for the city’s schools”.
