Bari municipal elections: Romito and Leccese are preparing for the runoff

In Bari there will be a run-off vote on 23 and 24 June 2024, meanwhile the candidates Vito Leccese (centre-left) and Fabio Saverio Romito (centre-right) sign the pacts.

BARI – The countdown begins for the second round of the 2024 administrative elections in Bari, voting will take place on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June 2024 and the following will compete in the run-off: for the centre-left Vito Leccese and for the centre-right Fabio Saverio Romito.
Both candidates are busy these days for the important challenge. Today, 17 June 2024, Leccese (together with Michele Laforgia, he was another center-left candidate) signed the protocol for legality that the 5 Star Movement submitted to them. While, again today, during a press conference Romito signed an agreement with the people of Bari for the implementation of five programmatic points in five years.

BALLOT, LECCESE: PROTOLL WITH FIVE STARS

Leccese with the protocol, the centre-left coalition aims to implement «actions to prevent the phenomena of conditioning or infiltration in administrative activities by criminal subjects, and to counteract attempts at conditioning, through control procedures, verification and strengthening of transparency processes”. Among the planned actions are: the signing by those elected, or those appointed, of the “declaration of responsibility” containing the commitments of transparency, correctness and democratic discussion contained in the Pisa Charter. The approval of the three-year corruption prevention and transparency plan (Ptpct) for 2025-2027, with simultaneous review of the risk profile of all administrative structures of the municipal administration and directly connected work processes. «We will be at Vito Leccese’s side in these days of the election campaign and in governing the city», say the Five Star Movement.

BALLOT, ROMITO: PACT WITH BARI

On the centre-right side, however, Romito in his pact with the city of Bari has foreseen “sanctions in the event of failure to implement”, i.e. the commitment “not to run again for the second mandate in five years”, said. «The five programmatic points – explained Romito – can be easily measured and will concern urban hygiene, urban safety, mobility and underground parking, support for the economy and transparency and efficiency of administrative action». Continuing: «there is someone who waited until the last day to hire or use old rankings. And, those like us who instead understand work as something sacred and which must not be used as merchandise”
