Bologna – The two puppies who were thrown into the glass bell jar as waste in Ozzano dell’Emilia in mid-May, just a few days old, are in good health. Doubly saved, first by the operator who was emptying it and heard a faint yelp and then by the people who, if they are not taken care of immediately, are now just over a month old and are called Mirtilla and Apollo. After the initial treatment at the Veterinary University of Ozzano, the little ones were taken care of, as soon as they were discharged from the clinic, by two sisters, Lucrezia and Sofia.
Initial treatment at the veterinary clinic
“The puppies are two setter-like puppies and they were thrown into the glass bell when they were a few days old,” says Lucrezia, who continues: “They still had the umbilical cord attached. Thanks to the involvement of my sister, who is a veterinary student and looked after the newly arrived dogs, we decided to bring them home and are weaning them with the bottle. We called them Mirtilla and Apollo, but unfortunately we will only be able to keep one of the two, deciding which… it’s very difficult!”.

LNDC Animal Protection, which immediately filed a complaint as soon as it learned the news, hopes that the ongoing investigations will find the culprit and that this crime will be punished in accordance with the law. “An ignoble and unscrupulous gesture that denotes a total insensitivity to life as well as blind cruelty,” argued LNDC president Piera Rosati. Mirtilla and Apollo are growing up and the association wants to echo the search of the two girls to find a new family for one of the two (by writing to [email protected]) and, as it has already announced, will continue to follow from close to the matter, hoping that videos or testimonies may emerge from the ongoing investigations that will nail the culprit, two deaths who miraculously escaped.
