the Vittadini Jazz Festival pays homage to Buster Keaton

PAVIA – Il Vittadini Jazz Festival comes alive with four top-level concerts to be held from 20 to 23 June at the Cloister of the Franco Vittadini Conservatory. The eighth edition of the festival, organized by the Jazz Department “New Technologies and Musical Languages” of the Pavia Conservatory, with the patronage of the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Pavia and the contribution of the Cariplo Foundation, promises an unforgettable musical experience for all jazz lovers.

It begins on Thursday 20 June with a film concert dedicated to Buster Keaton, genius of silent cinema. The film “Sherlock Jr.”, accompanied by the music of Bruno Reigner and directed by Vincent Boisseau of the Narbonne Conservatory, will transport the audience into a surreal and engaging atmosphere. The evening will continue with “The Playhouse”, another masterpiece by Keaton, where the protagonist doubles and triples in a series of hilarious gags. The students of the Pavia Conservatory will join the septet of French teachers for a unique performance.

Friday 21 June will be the turn ofItalOccitanie Orchestra, composed of musicians from the Narbonne and Pavia Conservatories. The original music, composed by all the members of the orchestra and arranged by Vincent Boisseau, will offer a journey through innovative and refined jazz sounds.

Saturday 22 June Vittadini Saxophone Quartet will propose a repertoire of songs by Phil Woods, while on Sunday 23 June the Jazz PianoTrio by Niccolò Cattaneo, Roberto Piccolo and Matteo Rebullatogether with the Vittadini Jazz Ensemble, will conclude the festival in style.

All concerts have free entry and will be held at 9.00 pm in the Cloister of the Franco Vittadini Conservatory. In case of bad weather, the concerts will be held in the Aula Magna of the Ghislieri College.
