“Favuriti” is a project born from an idea of the Calabrian entrepreneur Antonino De Masi. Through contemporary and incisive communication, it aims to build a new narrative of Calabria that highlights the existing critical issues and the normalization of this condition, while projecting itself towards the construction of a new identity as a positive model of industriousness, hospitality and resilience.“My goal is to attempt a cultural and social revolution, spread the sense of justice and promote legality, trying to be, for what I represent, the trigger for such action”.
The project aims to become a point of reference for an active, dynamic and inclusive southernism: an opportunity to inspire the community that feeds on positive stories, innovation and change.
A word that has a distant echo “Favuriti” but surrounded by an extraordinary contemporaneity: “The term FAVURITI brings to mind when as a child, between the years 1965/75, I accompanied my father to visit farmers to sell the first agricultural machines. As soon as you knocked on the door you were greeted with a favuriti, trasiti. A word that released everything, hospitality and sharing.” ADM
Clear and unshakable values those of Antonino De Masi who has become a point of reference in Italy for an entrepreneurship that has made legality, cultural and civil resistance, non-submission to “a normalization of evil” and conditioning to criminal power an existential and professional.
The project will start with a series of meetings within some of the most important Calabrian festivals: panels and talks that will outline Favuriti’s open cultural manifesto.
The construction of a new and shared narrative will pass through a careful analysis of existing critical issues but always contrasting a positive, hopeful and beautiful vision, in which the successes and potential of the territory are highlighted.
It will be an opportunity to discover local startups, social enterprises, entrepreneurial projects, art, music and contemporary cinema that are contributing to the economic development of the region and the construction of its new narrative.
The official presentation is scheduled for June 18th at 10.00 pm guests of Trame Festival in Lamezia Terme (Cz), with a meeting moderated by the journalist Pietro Comito, in which Antonino De Masi will present together with the President of Calabria Roberto Occhiuto, a large window of “Favuriti”: its mission, its manifesto, the planned activities. On this occasion, the teaser video of the project will be screened, which was born from the synergy of director Saverio Tavano, Italy Unlocked and Lighthouse. Following the concert by the popular singer-songwriter and storyteller Francesca Prestia together with the ‘Giuseppe Scerra’ Youth Wind Orchestra of Delianuov directed by Gaetano Pisano.
In July “Favuriti” will move to the Magna Graecia Film Festival in Catanzaro.
Finally, in August there will be two scheduled events: on the 3rd, on the occasion of Legality Day, the project will be presented in Delianuova and finally the closing will be set for the end of the month, within the International Jazz Festival “Mediterranean Rumors”.
“Favuriti” aims to become a “permanent” cultural event of and for Calabria.
In a second phase, the project will continue with the active involvement of students from schools in the Region with a series of workshops, meetings with personalities from the world of visual arts and cinema, starred chefs, authors and photographers and creative paths that stimulate their imagination and their civic commitment.
The final part of the project will finally culminate with the creation of an Expo: an extraordinary event dedicated to promoting the beauty and excellence of our region through exhibitions, debates, artistic performances with the aim of enhancing the Calabrian heritage.
