Mountain Top Strings of California concert

Sunday 30 June at 6.30pm in Cremona, near the Federico II Courtyard will perform there Mountain Top Strings of California (USA), directed by Sharon Rizzo.

The event is free and free to enter while places last.

The initiative is included in the fourteenth edition of the Cremona Summer Festival which will be held in Cremona from June 23 to August 29, 2024, with a program full of competitions, masterclasses and concerts. Students, accompanists and teachers of stringed instruments, piano and wind instruments will come to the city to play in the land of Stradivari, coming from nations all over the world.

The Cremona Summer Festival is a summer festival that acts as a container for educational activities related to violin making and is organized by Chamber of Commerce of Cremona in collaboration with the “Claudio Monteverdi” Conservatory and with the “International Music Academies” by Mark and Misha Lakirovich, with the patronage and collaboration of Municipality of Cremona and the Municipality of Cremawith the collaboration of Consortium of Violin Makers “Antonio Stradivari” Cremona, of the “Casalmaggiore International Music Festival”, of the “Festival Orchestra Giovanili” of Florence, of the Violin Museum, of the “Antonio Stradivari” higher education institute, of the Touring Club, of the Strada del Gusto Cremona, BeMyMusic Cremona, ESTA, Confartigianato Cremona, Cremona Solidale, the Fondazione Città di Cremona.

There Mountain Top Strings of California, created in 2011, is based in Big Bear Lake and is under the direction of cellist and music teacher Sharon Rizzo. MountainTop Strings of California is a small ensemble of string musicians ages 13 to 30.
Since the first concert tour in Italy and Austria in 2013, MountainTop Strings have returned to Italy on 5 other occasions, and have held concerts and workshops in numerous prestigious venues including the Pantheon in Rome, Church of Santa Maria della Pietà in Venice, known as “Vivaldi Church”, Orvieto Cathedral, Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Cremona Summer Series, Istituto Boccherini Musicale in Lucca, Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone in Rome, and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.
The repertoire consists of the baroque music of Vivaldi, Corelli, Bach, Sacred Music, but also American, Jazz, Rock and Folk music.
