With great joy, this morning, Mayor Matilde Celentano wanted to personally wish Clotilde Furlanetto her best wishes for her 104th birthday. She brought her the best wishes of the municipal administration and the entire community of Latina, with the hope that she “will continue to be a light of hope for her family and a living memory for the new generations of the city”. Accompanying the first citizen was Fausto Furlanetto, city councilor and nephew of the birthday girl.

“Clotilde, who I had the pleasure of meeting, is one of the longest-lived citizens of our city, but despite the years she is an example of strength and tenacity for all of us – declared the first citizen Matilde Celentano -. She was born on 17 June 1920 in Fossalta di Portogruaro, in the province of Venice, she arrived in Latina with her family at the time of the reclamation and lived on a farm in Borgo Sabotino. Two children, Elsa and Enzo, were born to her husband Claudio Campanari, whose family bordered the farm where the Furlanettos lived. Clotilde has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and an equally long-lived family who are by her side. She has always taken care of the family, with a particular dedication also to the community: she had learned to give injections and so she took her bicycle and went to the homes of fellow citizens to administer the prescribed drugs when necessary. To our community she represents an example of strength, wisdom and dedication, values that continue to inspire us all. It was an honor for me – concludes the Mayor – to extend my warmest birthday wishes to you.”
