Collection of greenery, ecological islands open for longer and free home collection

The new door-to-door green waste collection service it is already active in some areas of the city and will soon cover the entire municipal territory. The Environment Councilor Camilla Bianchi, together with collaborators from the Urban Hygiene sector and with the support of Aprica, participated in a series of meetings with citizens, which led to the introduction of some innovations.

Over 1,300 people took part in the information evenings and the municipal administration decided to welcome them two observations relating to ecological islands: The opening hours will therefore be extended and the increased receptive capacity of green.

The news

Specifically, the ecological islands of via Metastasio, via Codignole, via Gatti And via Giotto they will stay accessible continuously from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm and the Sunday from 9am to 1pm; the one of via Chiappa it will be open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm.

To allow for better provision of greenery, a second 20 m3 container was added in via Metastasio, in via Giotto and in via Gatti the 10 m3 containers were replaced with 20 m3 ones and in via Codignole 3 greens were added service of 6 m3 in addition to the 6 already present.

Furthermore, the Lodge has decided to make the completely free service until September 30th and from October 1st to November 30th (suspension date) citizens will have the right to three additional free emptyings of the bin, next to which the twigs in bundles can also be placed. However, the Municipality invites you to expose the container only when it is fullso as to make the service cheaper and data collection more reliable. For residents in the Sin Caffaro area only, the service will always be completely free (also for gardeners who work in the area thanks to a specific procedure).

Composting encouraged

Furthermore, to achieve the objectives included in the Regional Waste Plan approved in 2022, which provides by 2027 83.3% of separate waste collection (today in the city it is at 67.7%), 67.8% as a share of net waste (now at 55%) and 84.7 kg of non-recyclable waste per capita per year (today 163.2 kg ), the municipal administration has decided to encourage the practice of compostingthus trying to reduce the 20% of organic fraction which still falls within the tons of urban waste.

The kit for home compost will be distributed free of charge to all those who request it, not only to those who sign up for the green home service; the composters will be distributed on free loan for use starting from September and at the same time free courses will start to raise awareness of the practice. By the end of 2024 the Regulations of the Register of Compostersto which it will be possible to sign up from 2025: a reduction in the tariff is being studied for those who decide to join it.
