The Salerno Municipal Police, under the command of Commander Rosario Battipaglia, continue to carry out tight checks regarding the correct disposal of waste. Checks carried out by the Personnel of the Crime Prevention and Environmental Police Unit, headed by Captain Mario Elia, aimed at verifying the disposal of waste by the managers of the bathing establishments in the eastern area. The checks, carried out jointly with the personnel of Salerno Pulita, were carried out following the incorrect disposal of unsorted waste by the managers of the beaches, some of which, by not carrying out separate waste collection, disposed of significant quantities of unsorted waste by depositing it on the public road. The violation is also aggravated by a further violation consisting in the failure to use the prescribed trolleys. Non-compliant managers were ordered to collect waste that had not been disposed of in a differentiated manner, with the obligation to differentiate it before carrying out the correct disposal, in addition to the contestation of the prescribed sanctions, which, in the event of a repeat offence, may also be the subject of criminal disputes. Further checks concerned the disposal of waste by boaters. Officers engaged on Sunday in checks in plain clothes at the exit of the piers located in front of Piazza della Libertà. Also in this case, some boaters were checked at the exit of the piers and one of them was fined because he was caught leaving waste in the under-square.
