Another evening of hustle and bustle and sirens in the center of Gallarate: a quick intervention by the police arrested a group of young people in Piazza Garibaldi, and that 18-year-old who had already been arrested a week ago for threats ended up in handcuffs (again).
The episode happened on Sunday evening, in a center which in these weeks after the end of school is very popular with very young children. The 18 year old is part of a small group of young people who revolve around Piazza Garibaldi, protagonists of over the top behavior – let’s say so – and sometimes instead of real provocations.
Sunday evening they tried to fight with another group of boyswho was passing through the area and who instead would not have had any role (in the sense that they would not have reacted to the provocation). A bottle of beer flew and fortunately the police arrived within a very short time: they tried to calm things down, the 18-year-old reacted and was then arrested for injuries and resisting a public official (in the photo: the arrest between Via Turati and Piazza Garibaldi).
He will be tried directly today, Monday 17 June, at the Busto Arsizio court. Last week he had agreed to a one-year prison sentence, but the sentence was suspended.
A restless week and a patrol close to the centre
The last week has been particularly agitated in the most central area of the city, around Piazza Garibaldi, with interventions by the Police and Carabinieri on Sunday and Monday, then again on Wednesday with a man who suffered stab wounds (perhaps following an act of vandalism ).
The Carabinieri are always keeping a unit close to the most central area, to contain the risks. And in fact on Sunday evening they prevented the provocation from degenerating into open conflict.
